words are not enough

Many people think that "transmitting words" is enough to achieve learning, whether those "words" are in books, articles, lectures or powerpoint slides.

However, even if those words are an excellent summary of the topic and issues in question, just reading them does not have much impact on the reader's understanding nor on the reader's behaviour and skills.
